THE LOCATION

ST. TROPEZ

St Tropez is quite simply one of the most trendy spot in Europe - and it attracted artists and famous people long before the days of Brigitte Bardot. The rocky and wooded peninsula of Saint-Tropez is spectacular, the view of the sea and the Maures mountains is exceptional, and its small alleys are charming.

The closest beach to Saint-Tropez is that of Graniers, below the citadel, just after the Port des Pêcheurs, along the rue Cavaillon. From there, a path follows the coast around the Bay of Canebiers, with its small beach, to Cap St-Pierre, Cap St-Tropez, the very busy beach of Les Salins and all around to Tahiti-Plage , about 11 km.

PORT GRIMAUD

Port Grimaud is a world heritage site to discover absolutely. It is a unique village built around waterways, just like Venice. Each small house has a berth for one or two boats. Each house is different and painted in beautiful colors. There are restaurants and shops in the main area and you can tour the waterways either in a small electric boat or in a larger tourist boat. On Thursday and Saturday there are markets which are full of interesting things.

GRIMAUD

At less than 10 minutes by car from the house.

It is a really charming old village, topped by the ruins of an XIth century medieval fortress. It is so pleasant to walk through the small streets ablaze with bougainvillea. A visit is highly recommended. The bakery is very good, there is a newsagent and various restaurants. Food purchases are limited, but the Intermarché located just below Grimaud on the road to Cogolin has it all.

LA GARDE-FREINET

10 minutes by car from the house.

Established in the 11th century, this mountain village nestled in the heart of the Moors has preserved its character with its field stone houses, old fashioned street names, and a village square framed with restaurants and local art galleries. From atop old Fort Freinet one can see the plains of Saint-Clément and the Argens valley, all the way to the Alps. The main area is a pedestrian zone therefore very conducive to children's walks and there are a lot of lovely shops to explore.
